New turbines:

Seren Energy has knowledge and experience of a wide range of wind turbines, both new and refurbished, and can suggest which machines which would best suit your application.
Once planning permission has been achieved, Seren Energy will take care of the entire installation process. This includes the studies required by the network operator to assess exact grid connection requirements, ground conditions report, access construction, foundations, erection, grid connection and commissioning. We will also cover the maintenance of the turbine if required.

If you would prefer to project manage the scheme yourself, Seren can act as professional advisors, giving guidance on the more specialist and technical aspects of the process.

Refurbished turbines:

Over the last 5-15 years, ago many wind turbines were installed in Germany and Denmark. These machines were typically around 500kW in size. In the last few years the German and Danish governments have offered grant support to companies in their countries to take these wind turbines down and replace them with larger (1,000kW – 2,500kW) machines – this is known as ‘re-powering’. So for the same site and the same number of wind turbines they are now able to generate 4 or 5 times as much electricity.

A number of 5-10 year old machines are consequently available on the second-hand market. They are re-furbished and have a full service history and were originally designed with a 25 year design life, so have many years worth of generation left in them.

These machines can be installed for about half of the price of a new machine and usually represent a payback of under 5 years in an area with high wind speeds.
Refurbished wind turbines from a variety of manufacturers are used, including Vestas, Micon, NTK, Nordtank and Bonus
