Installation of wind turbines:

Once your planning permission has been granted, Seren Energy can take care of the entire installation process for you. This would initially require a study by the network operator to assess exact grid connection requirements, and a civil engineers ground conditions report to finalise foundation design. The first stage of installation is to construct the foundations and any access roads and crane hard standings required.

The foundations consist of the anchor cage of the wind turbine set in reinforced concrete. Once the concrete has successfully passed a crush test, the turbine can be erected. The base of the tower attaches directly to the protruding part of the anchor. Depending on the type of turbine, the tower may be pre-assembled at ground level, or erected one part at a time. The nacelle is then rasied and fixed to the tower, and the rotor and blades are attached to the tower. The blades and central rotor are usually pre-assembled at ground level for medium sized wind turbines, and the whole unit attached to the nacelle.

The grid connection work is undertaken by the network operator and independent electrical contractors. Often upgrades to the existing network are required for the turbine to be connected. Once the turbine is fully installed and all cabling and grid connection work completed, the turbine can be commissioned, and start selling electricity to the grid.

Seren Energy manage all the various sub-contractors, ensuring that your project is delivered on time and within budget.
